The Damian Lillard “will he stay or go?” saga is still ongoing.

Lillard has been the subject of endless trade rumors, even if it has been indicated he might not be willing to leave Portland. The All-Star guard and his agent met with Trail Blazers general manager Joe Cronin this afternoon to discuss his future.

Cronin released a statement on the meeting tonight, saying that the Blazers are still “committed” to building around Lillard.

“I met with Dame and Aaron Goodwin this afternoon. We had a great dialogue. We remain committed to building a winner around Dame.”

So, with this comment from Cronin, will the Lillard trade whispers be put to rest?

We hope so, but also seriously doubt it. They probably won’t stop until the regular season begins with Lillard still in a Blazers uniform, and even then, the rumors will likely pick back up in advance of the trade deadline, particularly if Portland isn’t faring well.
