Portland Trail Blazers rookie Scoot Henderson is going to miss the rest of the Summer League but potentially more preseason time with an injury.
According to Aaron J. Fentress of The Oregonian, Henderson has been shut down for the rest of the Summer League with a right shoulder strain. The injury reportedly took place during their Friday game against the Houston Rockets.
“According to an NBA source, Blazers rookie Scoot Henderson has been shut down for the rest of summer league with a right shoulder strain that occurred Friday against Houston. #ripcity,” Fentress wrote.
Henderson was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft after spending the last two seasons with the NBA G League Ignite.
However, his drafting preceded Trail Blazers megastar Damian Lillard submitting a trade request. So it’s entirely possible that Henderson is going to become the face of the franchise sooner rather than later.

It wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Scoot Henderson is a regular starter by year’s end. But he’ll have to stay healthy in order to make that a reality.
