Milan, 24, says:
I was super nervous to begin with because it’s been so long since I’ve been out on a date — it has been years — so I decided to go a little earlier and get a drink and calm the nerves a bit. As soon as my date walked in, I was stunned, she was gorgeous.
Mel was super easy to talk to and she was really nice. Conversation was flowing well. There was no awkward pauses so everything was great, in my opinion.
We spoke about anything and everything from what we did for work to my extensive list of sports injuries including me falling on my head, which has made a pretty good meme in my group chats with friends, so of course I had to show her the photo of the accident. We had similar tastes in music and movies and we are both dog lovers. I ended up showing her some photos of my dachshund, Borris, which she loved, so in my eyes things were going pretty well.
Once we had finished up with dinner we ended up going for a walk down to Henry Summer for another drink. After that, I waited outside with her for the Uber to arrive. We exchanged socials and I thought about messaging her but I wasn’t sure if I should do it that night or the following day.
We didn’t discuss going on a second date but I’d be keen to take her out again.
I ended up applying for Blind Date after a workmate messaged me about it. I had been talking about getting back out into the dating world. I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into until he explained the full process then I was like ‘uh oh’ but I figured I’d just give it a go and see what happens and I’m glad I did – it was a really fun experience.

Melanie, 26, says:
It was hard not having any idea what I was going into, as you would with a normal date, but I guess that’s the point, right? I wasn’t too nervous though. I’ve been on enough dates to not get nervous. It was just a different experience not even knowing a name before arriving. I felt bad for Milan because I could tell he was really nervous.
It was maybe a little bit awkward at the start but once we got into the flow of conversation everything was fine. The wait staff ended up having to come around multiple times to grab our order because we were talking so much and had not even looked at the menu.
We did have some things in common, we spoke about everything and anything but he was a bit younger than me but we did find things to bond over for sure. Mostly travel, music and movies.
I ended up applying for Blind Date after seeing it on Facebook and then I saw a couple of influencers did it so I thought, I’ve got nothing to lose. If anything it will be a good night and a good story or a terrible night and an even better story.
We didn’t chat about a second date and to be honest, I completely forgot that we didn’t have each other’s contact details so when we went to leave, he asked if he should grab them which I’m glad, because I would have left and totally forgot. I forgot it was a blind date. We ended up following each other on Instagram and exchanged a message that we both got home OK.
Milan was really lovely but I don’t think there was much of a spark between us — it felt more friendship rather than romance. It was a nice date overall and he was good to talk to with no awkward moments or anything.
