Pop punk band Blink-182 announced plans for its 2023 world tour on Tuesday morning and confirmed that guitarist-vocalist Tom DeLonge is back in the band.
Earlier this month, the group scrubbed its social media of all previous photos and posts and billboards began popping up all over the world, vaguely hinting at a big announcement from the band. The tour kicks off in Tijuana, Mexico on March 11 and comes to Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles June 16 and Pechanga Arena June 20 with support from punk band Turnstile.
Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17 at Ticketmaster.com.
DeLonge parted ways with bassist Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker in 2015 and the group continued on without him, enlisting Alkaline Trio’s guitarist-vocalist Matt Skiba to fill in. DeLonge went on to work full-time with his San Diego-based To the Stars…Academy of Arts & Sciences company, which he co-founded. While DeLonge managed the entertainment leg of the company, the science and aerospace divisions investigated UFOs, a topic DeLonge has long been passionate about.
In July 2021, the band put all recording and touring plans on hold when Hoppus was diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. After undergoing treatment, Hoppus announced he was cancer-free by September of last year. Fans also noticed Hoppus, Barker and DeLonge seemingly being on friendly terms again on social media, which sparked rumors of a reunion.
Now the reunited band will perform for the first time together in nearly a decade and announced its first new single, “Edging,” which will drop on Friday. Its 10th studio album is due out sometime next year as well.
