Blur frontman Damon Albarn stunned the crowd at Wembley Stadium by performing in a replica Fila tracksuit jacket.

The red and black coat became iconic after featuring in the video for 1994 hit Girls and Boys.

The Italian sportswear manufacturer became synonymous with the 1990s Britpop band, with the vintage 1980s Fila Velour tracktop the peak of every fan’s wishlist.

And in recent months Albarn has seen a bit of a Fila resurgence, performing in tracksuit tops and donning vintage poloshirts from the brand.

It didn’t stop Blur fans at Wembley feeling a little hyped up as the 55-year-old frontman disappeared off stage at the start of Girls and Boys only to reappear in the classic top.

Addressing the crowd, he said: “So, I mean for those who care, this is the original Fila – well, it’s not the original, we couldn’t find it – thank you to Fila for recreating it.

“What a wonderful thing to lose something and have a whole business recreate it.”

Blur, who rose to the heights of fame in the Britpop scene, performed in front of 140,000 people across two nights at Wembley.

It is the first time the band have headlined a show in the United Kingdom since 2015.

Consisting of frontman Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree, the band are preparing to release their ninth studio album.

And ahead of the show, Albarn said he was grateful to be able to perform in front of the Wembley crowd. Speaking to ITV news he said: “It’s amazing for Graham and me to sit here, having started off in our little humble Portakabin in Colchester at the age of 12 and to be here, thank you very much everybody.”
