The Golden State Warriors made their first major move since Bob Myers stepped down as general manager.
Led by new GM Mike Dunleavy Jr., Golden State sent Jordan Poole, a 2030 protected first-round pick, and a 2027 second-round selection to the Washington Wizards for Chris Paul. The blockbuster, reported by Shams Charania, isn’t drawing rave reviews, as Warriors fans are already longing for Myers to return.
“I just don’t feel like Bob Myers would have made this trade,” John Frascella said.

At this point, I’d rather have Jordan Poole than Chris Paul.
CP3 is approaching retirement. He can’t stay healthy in the Playoffs. Poole can’t re-improve with Player Development? https://t.co/3NerYwl3dW

Poole signed a four-year, $128 million extension after playing a key role in Golden State’s 2022 championship. He averaged 20.4 points per game last season before struggling in the playoffs.
The Warriors apparently had cold feet over Poole’s contract, as they shipped the 24-year-old and draft picks to Washington for a 38-year-old who just posted the lowest scoring average (13.9) of his 18-year career.
Acquiring Paul, who is under contract for one more season, gives Golden State more future flexibility to re-sign Draymond Green and extend Klay Thompson.
Earlier this week, Dunleavy told reporters he planned for Poole to remain with the Warriors for the duration of his four-year deal.
