Bobby Davro opened up about the loss of his fiancee Vicky Wright and praised her for how she fought against fatal pancreatic cancer.
The 64-year-old comedian reflected on his late partner and admitted he was battling his grief and experiencing ups and downs in the wake of her death on May 3.
Popping the question amid her diagnosis last year, Bobby and his long-term romantic love were together for 12 years before her untimely death.
He shared how he was coping with the loss of his other half during a chat with daytime TV host Lorraine on Monday.
The EastEnders actor told presenter Lorraine Kelly: ‘To see somebody suffer from that dreadful disease, it really took it out of me.
‘You go through so many different feelings, it’s relief because they’re no longer suffering and then you have that sadness and then you have that anger, then guilt and then sadness – it’s just learning to live with it.
‘You take each day as it comes and positivity!’
He appeared on the show with regular guest Dr Hilary in a bid to raise awareness and underline the early symptoms of the disease so that people could detect them earlier and escape Wright’s fate.
Bobby went on to highlight how ‘strong’ his fiance was in the midst of her ‘dreadful’ diagnosis and said: ‘She had hope, she was strong – my girl, she really went for it and she had hope but sadly when it didn’t work that hope dissolved.
‘Then you had the psychological effect and the anxiety and it was really tough. I was very proud of the way she fought it.
‘She fought it and was very, very brave,’ Lorraine chimed in, supporting her famous guest as he sat on her sofa.
A few weeks after Wright died, Bobby penned a heartbreaking tribute and shared the news with his fans on Twitter.
He wrote in his message at the time: ‘It’s been just over a week since my beautiful @vickywright5459 left this world and its only now I feel strong enough to share my feelings.
‘I want to thank everyone for their support and expressions of love and kindness you have shown me and Vicky’s family and loved ones…
‘To think we will never hear her voice to hear laughter look into her beautiful eyes see her smile to hold her and to kiss her is devastating and so incredibly painful.
‘She will be in my thoughts and in my heart forever. She was my Schluffe and I loved her and always will [sic].’
Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
