Body cam footage of Polo G’s 2021 arrest in Miami, which was widely criticized as an example of racist profiling, has been released.
Per a report from TMZ on Thursday, the footage (seen above) is comprised of two parts. One sees an officer on his computer while Polo G is heard, but not seen, expressing his frustrations over the arrest while the officer is heard arguing with him.
“Did you buy your mama anything? Did you buy your mama a car? Did you buy your mama a house?” Polo says at one point. “I did that. I did both of those. You will never accomplish that, ever in life. … You never will.” He also questioned why someone would choose to be a police officer and “barely provide” for their family.
In another portion of the footage, Polo G is seen pushing back against claims from surrounding law enforcement officials of having resisted arrest.
“I got every right to be frustrated. … When you first apprehended me and they slammed me to the floor, I blacked out,” he says to one officer.
As previously reported, Polo G’s final misdemeanor charges of resisting an officer violence counts were dropped in April after he finished an anger management course. Stacia Mac, Polo’s mother, previously criticized the charges against her son as only being made possible due to the behavior of Miami police. Per Mac, Polo was the passenger and “moving smart and correctly” at the time.
