PALO ALTO – An investigation is underway into a bomb threat found scrawled inside a Palo Alto middle school bathroom, police said.

The threat was first reported around 11:25 a.m. Tuesday at Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School at 480 East Meadow Drive, according to the Palo Alto Police Department.

Police said an investigation revealed a student had found writings scrawled on a stall inside a girls bathroom indicating the author intended to bomb the school Wednesday.

The student reported the threat to staff members, who in turn contacted authorities.

Investigators are working with school administrators to identity the person responsible for writing the message, according to police. And to ensure everyone’s safety, officers will be at the school Wednesday.
