I was doing my customary scroll for hair inspo when one style stopped me in my tracks. Floaty, voluminous, sexy, wearable. It was bombshell hair, or more specifically, bombshell bangs.
Of course floaty fringes are nothing new with ‘70s style curtain bangs totally dominating hair trends for the past few years (#curtainbangs has over 3 billion views on TikTok). But there was something about this fringe, posted by Andrea Henty at Beverly Hills salon, Bomane, that added a cute sleek noughties twist to combine two of the headlining hair moments of 2023.

While the fringe adds oomf, the rest of the hair is left a little looser rather than leaning into the big Farrah Fawcett-style blow-dried flicks we’ve been seeing lots of. As for the shape of the fringe, it feels a little lighter than heavy, swooshy curtain bangs, making it a beautiful choice for summer.
Better still, it works with all different face shapes. “These bangs are universally flattering but hard to get right,” Andrea explained. Lucky for us, she also posted a video of her cutting the hair so we can see the technique involved.

And, we tapped her up for a step-by-step of what to ask for at your hair salon (or how to do it yourself if you’re confident at cutting). “Start with a moon section a bit smaller than you would normally for bangs,” Andrea said. “Always point cut to achieve a natural finish,” she adds. This is where you cut up into the hair in small movements, rather than horizontally across the edge of your hair. “Start by etching in the initial shape (no shorter than mid-nose). Once the shape is right, slowly take them shorter,” says Andrea. Finally, “blend out artfully to contour the cheekbones and soften with texturising shears where needed,” she says.
So, if you’re looking for a summer-friendly tweak to your hair, bombshell bangs offer a dreamy update.
