BORE WARS: Sprinkler days officially REDUCED for Perth

Bore water users in Perth and Mandurah will have their garden sprinkler days reduced, the McGowan Government has announced.

From September 1, households will go from a three-day roster to a two-day roster, as part of a plan to “balance Perth and Mandurah’s precious groundwater resource”.

“The impacts of climate change, reduced rainfall and increased use have had a significant effect on Perth’s precious groundwater resources,” Water Minister Dave Kelly said on Friday.

“By everyone making small changes to how they use groundwater, we can deliver environmental benefits, provide industry with clarity and certainty, and protect this precious resource for future generations.”

The announcement was met with fierce resistance from bore water users on social media.

“Think I’ll stay with my three, thanks,” one person wrote in Facebook group WA Lawn Addicts.

“Absolute bulls**t,” said another.
