After reports surfaced Wednesday that an Eastern Conference championship contender was heavily pursuing Wizards big man Kristaps Porzingis, all eyes on NBA Twitter almost immediately went to Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics.

Once NBA insider Shams Charania confirmed that the C’s were in “strong talks” to acquire the Latvian center, the Boston executive’s name began to trend on Twitter.

“Porzingis had a scary 22/23 Season: 23.2 PPG (career-high), 8.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 62.7 TS% (Career-high), 52.6% on corner threes … Brad Stevens does it again,” a fan said.

“Brad Stevens,” a user commented.

“Brad Stevens has had his eye on Porzingis for a while,” tweeted the New York Daily News‘ Stefan Bondy. “Reported in 2017 that the Celtics were trying to make a deal.”

“Brad Stevens when given the opportunity to add another big to the Celtics who cant rebound,” another fan joked.

“Brad Stevens been a gm for 2 years and ran circles around Sean Marks,” a Nets fan said. “Brad Stevens 2 yrs>>>>> Marks 8 easily. We ain’t ever matching up with no top tier contender as long he remains. Not enough urgency, smarts in him to hang w/the best.”

The Clippers are also reportedly involved in what would be a three-team deal.
