Bradley Cooper Finally Joins the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Promotional Tour and Talks Getting Emotional Over Rocket’s Story

Guardians of the Galaxy fans have all been asking he same question in the last couple of weeks – where is Bradley Cooper? As the press tour for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 began, Cooper was noticeably absent, and although James Gunn said on multiple occasions that he would be joining them in time, it was not until the premiere that Cooper finally made an appearance and shared some details about what is his last run out as Rocket Racoon for while at least.

Fans have been waiting for Cooper to join the promotion of James Gunn’s final Marvel movie for the foreseeable future, and he caught up with Entertainment Tonight while on the red carpet at the movie’s premier. During the interview, Cooper revealed that like many of the cast members, he got a little emotional while watching the movie come together. He said:

“[James Gunn] did talk to me about that initially too, that he had this sort of end game for Rocket, and us learning about his origin. You never know if that’s actually gonna happen, and then low and behold, we get to this third script and I read it, and I go, ‘Oh my gosh that’s exactly what he talked about.’ It was — emotional’s the right word. I watched a cut of it a while ago, and I cried pretty hard. I mean, it’s pretty hardcore. Little Rocket — he went through a lot, dude. He went through a lot.”

Like many of the Guardians cast, Bradley Cooper is more than happy to consider working for James Gunn again, and that could include a shift across to the DC Universe if Gunn wants him to. When asked about his possible future collaborations, Cooper said:

“I go wherever James tells me. I just think he’s incredible. I love Peacemaker. I love that series he did. I thought that was incredible, like blew me away. And I just think he’s…as I said, I’m just glad he’s working, making movies and television.”

Cooper is certainly not the only member of the Guardians team to suggest they would happily follow Gunn wherever he goes. Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff and Dave Bautista have all reacted positively when asked whether they would like to be part of Gunn’s plans over at DC Studios. This week, Karen Gillan joined that group, when she expressed an interest in playing a specific Batman villain. She said:

“I always thought that Poison Ivy was really fun. So maybe something like that would be cool. Honestly, if James asked me to play an alien that sits in the background of a shot and doesn’t talk, I would say yes [laughs]. Because working with him has been one of the great joys of my career so far.”

There are going to be plenty of opportunities for Gillan and others to potentially collaborate with James Gunn again in the coming years as he and Peter Safran expand their DC slate and bring more new characters into play. Exactly who that could be and when they will arrive is something that will all become clear in time.
