For the second time this offseason, the Celtics have executed a three-team trade.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Celtics are parting ways with power forward Grant Williams. He’ll be heading to the Mavericks as part of this deal.
The Celtics, meanwhile, will be receiving multiple second-round picks. Perhaps they’ll move those picks at a later date.
The Spurs are the third team involved in this trade. They’re receiving veteran swingman Reggie Bullock and an unprotected pick swap in 2030 from the Mavericks.

Williams, a former two-time SEC Player of the Year, is the main piece in this deal. He averaged 8.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Celtics this past season.
In theory, Williams should give the Mavericks a versatile player in the frontcourt to complement Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic.
Besides, Williams became expendable in Boston once the Celtics acquired Kristaps Porzingis from the Wizards.
