Going into Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals, it was very much on the board that it could be Draymond Green’s last game as a Warrior.
Now, according to NBA insider Shams Charania, Green has let the team know he won’t be opting into his contract this offseason.
Per Shams: “Golden State Warriors four-time NBA champion Draymond Green is declining his $27.5 million player option for 2023-24 season and will enter unrestricted free agency.”

Green hasn’t hit free agency since he was a restricted free agent back in 2015. With this likely being his last chance at a big contract, it’s hard to imagine he won’t give a hard look at playing elsewhere if the finances are right.
The former Defensive Player of the Year has long been considered the heart and soul of Golden State’s dynasty due to his vocal leadership and selfless play.
However, on-court incidents and the Jordan Poole punch may be a factor in the Warriors negotiations should they try to retain him.
