One of the top 2023 NBA Draft prospects is staying in college – but he won’t be staying at his current school.
According to 247Sports analyst Travis Branham, Oregon center Kel’el Ware will be entering the NCAA transfer portal. He told the outlet that he has no intentions of entering the 2023 NBA Draft anymore.
“I am incredibly thankful for my freshman season at Oregon,” Ware said. “Sincere thanks to Coach Altman and the entire coaching staff for believing in me and helping me grow, both as a player and person. I will take the lessons that I have learned on and off the court this season into this next chapter. And to Ducks Nation and most importantly, my teammates: thank you for embracing me into the Oregon family.”
“My dream has always been to play in the NBA,” he added. “I will continue to challenge myself in the classroom and on the court to put myself in the best position possible to achieve my goal.”

Kel’el Ware was a McDonald’s All-American in 2022 while playing at North Little Rock in Arkansas. He was a consensus five-star recruit and had offers from some of the top programs in the country.
But as a freshman at Oregon, Ware struggled to get minutes. He averaged 6.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 15.8 minutes per game and only had a handful of starts all season.
Where will Ware play next?
