If you thought Kyrie Irving was finally satisfied in Brooklyn, think again.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Irving has requested a trade from the Nets.
Irving has informed the Nets that he prefers to move on before the Feb. 9 trade deadline. If a deal doesn’t materialize, he’ll just leave as a free agent in July.
The Nets will now have to decide whether they want to risk losing Irving for nothing this summer in hopes of winning a title, or get whatever they can in return.
On the court, Irving has been outstanding for the Nets this season, averaging 27.1 points and 5.3 assists per game.
Irving has kept the Nets afloat while Kevin Durant has been rehabbing from a sprained MCL.
It’s unclear if the Nets will grant Irving’s wish. At the very, we’d imagine the Lakers will make a call to see what the asking price is.
