Brewery teams with restaurateur Bryan Dayton on Englewood taproom

Boulder’s Sanitas Brewing Co. is celebrating a decade in the beer business with a soon-to-open location in the Denver suburbs.

The new taproom, Sanitas’ second, is located at 200. W. Belleview Ave. in Englewood where craft beer drinkers will find a 4,700-square-foot taproom with more than 15 beers on tap, including experimental recipes brewed on the 3.5-barrel pilot system onsite, plus a 2,500-square-foot patio.

The grand opening is slated for Friday, June 23, through Sunday, June 25. To celebrate, Sanitas will release a new hazy IPA called Cheers from Englewood that’s “packed with peach, apricot and sweet melon flavor notes,” according to the brewery.

Part of co-founder and CEO Michael Memsic’s vision is to be a destination morning, noon and night, which is why the brewery includes an outpost for the local Atlas Coffee, its fourth on the Front Range.

There’s also a restaurant, called CBurger, that comes by way of chef Sam McCandless and well-known local restaurateur Bryan Dayton, who is behind the Denver and Boulder restaurants Corrida, Oak at Fourteenth, Bellota, Brider and others.

(Dayton declined to comment on the specifics of the concept, saying he would have more information later this week.)

But perhaps what Memsic is most excited about is bringing locally-made beer to an area he considers a craft beer desert. When it opens, Sanitas will be just the third brewery within Englewood city limits.

“We’re so accustomed in Boulder to having so many breweries so close to us… that’s not the case here,” Memsic said by phone. “I believe that’s going to be a good thing and huge strength to this opportunity.”

While the new location embodies the spirit of Sanitas’ Boulder location with what Memsic describes as a “fluid” floorplan and family-friendly atmosphere, the Englewood spot is undeniably in a more urban setting. In 2022, The Denver Post touted the Boulder brewery as one of the best beer-centric patios on the Front Range for its mature trees and lush foliage that puts the “garden” in beer garden.

Still, Memsic believes the eats and drinks to be a draw not only for Englewood residents but also beer lovers across the Front Range.

Head brewer Scott Clutter is expected to use the pilot system to keep Englewood stocked on Sanitas staples and to test out new recipes.

Sanitas in Englewood was expected to open in February of this year, but was delayed by supply chain issues for “a handful of small but important components” related to buildout, Memsic said.
