It’s been a week since Succession came to an end, and the series’ star Brian Cox revealed that he still hasn’t watched the final episode. The actor gave a detailed explanation of why he still hasn’t seen it, and it’s more than just the common quirk of performers not watching their own work.

During an interview with the BBC, Cox explained that his decision to not watch the final episode was mostly due to the events that happened throughout the final season. The actor references the death of Logan Roy in episode three and how that led to him being “disinclined” to watch the rest of the series. At the same time, he believes that Logan has won his part of the battle, regardless if he’s dead or alive, hence why he doesn’t feel the need to see how it all plays out.

“Because of what happened to Logan, I’ve been disinclined to watch the rest. I knew how it’s gonna end, because I knew how Logan would have set it up. I gather that ultimately, in the end, Logan’s won through — even though he’s in the grave. But it’s a strange situation. I don’t cling onto things. When I’m over, it’s over, and I go on.”

Even if Cox has not seen the ending, he still knows what’s going to happen and believed that everyone, most specifically the Roy siblings, got what they deserved. He also referenced the wealth gap that’s noticeable in today’s society and how it reflects in this show.

“The wealth gap, because that’s what fascinates me. The fact that people are getting poorer and people are getting richer. And the richer are becoming so out of it. They’re so separated, and that’s what our show is dealing with. And rightly, they got their just deserts, apparently. I haven’t seen the finale but apparently, they get their just deserts.”

Cox released a heartfelt message on social media, in which he talked about how he enjoyed his time on the show. He also claimed that his character died “too early” during the series finale, yet he also believed that it was executed very well. If you still haven’t seen the series finale, all episodes of Succession season four are now available to stream on Max.
