This year’s Lakers-Warriors playoff series has sparked some debate over whether Steph Curry could surpass LeBron James on the all-time rankings list.
But to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the answer is clear. As great as Curry is and has been, he’s not on the level of the King.
“Mr. Curry is not LeBron James. I think we have to honor Steph Curry and not make this a head-to-head. He’s not LeBron,” Windhorst said on Get Up Thursday.
Windhorst went on to say that you can’t use Curry’s 3-1 record against LeBron in the Finals against James because the Warriors always had the better team.
“Even in this series, they’re favored. Maybe they’re not favored now, but it wasn’t just Steph and LeBron,” Windhorst said. “It’s important not to criticize Steph, but there’s a gulf here.”

Of course, some could argue Windhorst is biased because of his close relationship with James for more than two decades. We tend to agree with his assessment here though.
LeBron and the Lakers took Game 1 against Steph and the Warriors on Tuesday.
Game 2 is set for 9 p.m. ET tonight on ESPN.
