Bristol pub so good it has longest waiting list in the world

Diners at this in-demand pub face the world’s longest wait for their Sunday roast – a taste-bud torturing four years.

The Bank Tavern is so popular with diners it is the most difficult eatery to get a reservation – anywhere on the planet.

Researchers came to the conclusion by finding the hardest restaurants to book into according to TikTok content and online reviews.

Tucked away in John Street, Bristol, the popular city-centre pub has just seven tables, with space for up to 40 diners.

Tables can only be reserved for an hour and 45 minutes, with staff estimating that they serve around 160 roasts a week.

The pub describes its Sunday lunches as “legendary”.

Speaking in 2020, landlord Sam Gregory said: “We don’t repeat the same menu and although we always have beef. We also do pork, some vegetarian options and perhaps venison or poultry. We change the starters and desserts weekly so the menu is never the same. Most of it though is down to the herculean effort of our head chef and kitchen team.”

The pub’s meat is sourced from West Country farms. Regulars are even known to chip in with surplus from allotments.

The Observer Food Monthly Awards named the tavern’s roast the best in Britain in 2019.

Demand for a table is so great a note on the Bank Tavern’s website says: “Bookings for Sunday roasts are now closed for the foreseeable future.”
