From shingle to sand, the UK has some incredible beaches to explore. Tripadvisor has ranked the best beaches in Britain for a staycation with a “wonderful” spot taking first place.
Beautiful Bournemouth Beach grabbed first place based on Tripadvisor reviews by tourists from around the globe.
A tourist ‘Neil Lux’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Just a wonderful sandy beach. Clean, tidy and plenty of space.”
Another tourist wrote: “Beautiful sandy beach with amazing views across the ocean. You’d forget you were in the UK still.”
‘Daisy700’ wrote: “Felt like being abroad. Nice clean sand, clear blue skies and blue water. Will definitely return during the summer.”
Newquay’s Fistral Beach took third place in the rankings and was the highest scoring Cornish beach.
The popular beach is known as a world-class surfing destination and is the venue for major competitions.
Woolacombe Beach in Devon was fourth on the list while Norfolk’s Gorleston-on-Sea rounded off the top five.
Filey Beach was Yorkshire’s highest scoring beach. The five mile expanse of sand is popular with families due to its safe, clean waters.
