A top British tourist attraction has been named Europe’s most overcrowded destination with visitors complaining about the crowds.
According to the analysis of Tripadvisor reviews by The Thinking Traveller, Edinburgh Castle is the country’s most overcrowded attraction.
Over one million people visited the Castle in 2022 although it was Scotland’s second most popular attraction.
A reviewer ‘soap43’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “There are way too many people to enjoy the castle.
“Crowds everywhere. Zigzagging queues to see the Crown Jewels so we decided to skip those although we would have loved to see it.”
Another reviewer said they enjoyed their visit to the Castle but added: “The only problem here was the over abundance of crowds everywhere.”
Jacqui M said: “Unfortunately when we visited, we couldn’t move for crowds and there were queues everywhere.”
One tourist even compared the Castle to Disneyland and said there were people everywhere when they visited.
