Britney Spears allegedly thrown to ground by security defending Victor Wembanyama: Report

The NBA’s summer league in Las Vegas is supposed to be about showcasing basketball’s exciting young players, like top prospect Victor Wembanyama.

But Wembanyama, the most highly-touted athlete since LeBron James, is so in demand that everyone wants a piece of him, even Britney Spears.

Things apparently went awry on Wednesday night though thanks to overzealous security, according to a report.

Spears was allegedly assaulted at a restaurant in Vegas after getting too close to Wembanyama, TMZ reported. TMZ alleged a San Antonio Spurs security member backhanded Spears in the face when she approached the 7-4 Frenchman, causing her to fall to the ground. The report said the security team member somehow didn’t know who Spears was at first, but later apologized after realizing the mistake.

TMZ reported Spears was at Catch restaurant in the ARIA Hotel with her husband, Sam Asghari, and two others for dinner and had been swarmed by fans when she entered ARIA. They said Spears is a fan of Wembanyama, the No. 1 pick of last month’s draft by the Spurs, and wanted to take a photo with him.

“She tapped him on his back, right shoulder and, we’re told,  the Director of Team Security for the San Antonio Spurs …  instantly backhanded her, causing her to fall to the ground … knocking her glasses off,” TMZ reported. “Britney composed herself and went to her table. We’re told the security guy came over to the table and apologized. He said, ‘You understand how it is when you’re being swarmed by fans.’ He apologized and Britney accepted it.”
