It was only two years ago that Britney Spears was declaring that she’s a no-makeup kinda gal. Although she’s become known (and unacceptably shamed) for her penchant for dark eyeliner, it was in July 2020 that the legendary pop star was telling fans, “I’m just now learning that no makeup is the way to go …. I mean …. a little makeup is fun but after spending so much time in hair and makeup chairs to look flawless …. I think a natural look is the way to go.” Well, a lot has changed for Spears recently in many areas of her life, and among those changes, it appears she may be turning into a makeup enthusiast.
On Wednesday, April 13, Spears posted a four-slide screenshot of what you might call a stream-of-conscious writing exercise, in which she discussed a number of topics: her recently-announced pregnancy, her mother, people who are absorbed in their phones, taking care of one of her sons while he was sick, how media treated has her, and more. But she started and ended the Instagram post talking about makeup — namely how she never used to be particularly into it and how that’s changing.
“I will confess … getting tons of lipsticks ???? from different companies … well I never got a thrill out of that ????????♀️ !!! But I will be honest and say … that has changed !!!”
Although she goes off-topic for a bit, she comes back around to talk about makeup as she concludes her post. She says instead of trying so hard, she wants to “just be me” and realized that being obsessed with makeup “isn’t so bad.”
“It’s the little things in finding myself that I’ve honestly missed for the last 14 years !!! It’s time for me to indulge into thinking ???? … books???? … makeup ???? … classic movies ???? … great conversation ???? … and the best sex ever !!!” she writes before coming back around to makeup again — specifically a fellow pop star’s beauty brand. “It’s going to be ok and now that @ArianaGrande sent me this unbelievable packaging with her new makeup line @REMbeauty…| believe my day is set !!! Yes I’ve put it on already and I’m not lying … it’s pretty awesome ???? !!! The colors are not only subtle and cool but the way it lays on your face is like silk … literally !!! Thank you Ariana for this amazing gift ???? I needed eyeshadow !!! How did you know ???”
