One of the most unlikely encounters we’ve ever seen turned into a global news story this week when Britney Spears ran into Victor Wembanyama.

The superstar artist had an altercation with the NBA No. 1 overall pick’s security this week in Las Vegas after she attempted to get his attention.

The incident was initially defined by the statements of both parties, with each describing a different version of events. Eventually, a video was released that showed what happened.

Spears, who initially wanted to congratulate Wembanyama on his success since being drafted, says that she isn’t holding a grudge against the top draft pick.

“Either way I’m still a huge fan of the NBA player,” Spears said in a long Instagram post she sent on Friday. “it’s not his fault his security hit me … s— happens !!!”

Wembanyama has yet to respond to Spears personally, but he’s likely focusing on the Spurs’ upcoming Summer League games.

The French phenom had a less-than-stellar debut on Friday night against the Charlotte Hornets, and he’ll be looking to bounce back in his second appearance.

The Spurs have said that Wembanyama will likely only play one or two games at Summer League, leaving him with only one more chance to make a good first impression on NBA fans before the new season.
