Earlier this year, after the release of Framing Britney Spears , a documentary that delved into the singer’s public downfall and the court-appointed conservatorship over her career, Sawyer was criticized for the interview in which she questioned Spears for doing “something that caused (Timberlake) so much pain, so much suffering” after their relationship ended in 2002.
Timberlake apologized to Spears , writing in an Instagram post : “I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns and I want to respond. I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right.”
In a statement to People , Spears’ dad Jamie denied he was involved in the Sawyer interview.

“Mr. Spears has no idea what Ms. Spears is talking about. Jamie never set up any interview with Diane Sawyer and was not present for any such interview,” a message from his lawyer Alex Weingarten read. “He had nothing to do with Britney’s career at this point and was completely uninvolved in this interview. Jamie loves Britney very much, wishes Britney nothing but the best and hopes that she continues to seek the help that she needs to stay safe and healthy.”
Elsewhere in her post, Spears hinted that her touring days might be over saying that she can’t imagine going through that grind again.
“I know I’m not playing in huge arenas with my loud band anymore but I will be honest and say life on the road is hard,” she wrote. “My first three years in the biz and on the road were great but I’ll be completely honest and say that after those three tours and the pace I was going … I don’t think I ever want to do it again !!! I hated it !!!”

She also said she was “embarrassed” for her estranged family now that she’s free from the conservatorship that has controlled the pop singer’s life and money for nearly 14 years
“I’m more embarrassed for my family for condoning the fact that I wasn’t allowed to have cash for so long when I worked my little ass off for them,” she wrote. “I’m embarrassed for the State of California for permitting my father to have me work as hard as he worked me all those years and never seeing a dime… I’m embarrassed for all of them and I’m sad for them because I know my value and worth now …and they LOST ME !!!”
Spears ended her message by wishing her fans a happy holiday. “Hope you’re all having a wonderful Christmas,” she wrote.
