BRITS in Ukraine stood shoulder-to-shoulder with locals yesterday amid claims Russia was hours from triggering war.
Around 1,000 UK citizens live and work in the strife-torn state, with many vowing to stay and support their Ukrainian friends.
It came as Kremlin con men were feared to be planning a “false flag” ruse to spark war by attacking one of their own troop trains in neighbouring Belarus.
Logistics firm boss Sean Kelly, 53, who has lived in Kiev for 26 years, said: “I would do anything I can to help them.”
He said he would first evacuate Ukrainian-born wife Natalia and children Oliver, two, and Elizabeth, seven, by putting them on a ferry to Turkey.
IT specialist Ken Stewart, 54, spoke of his concern as his Ukrainian wife Tetiana, 36, is due to give birth to their second child any day.

He said: “We can get to the Polish border in about five hours. We have jerry cans of petrol in the car.”
Edinburgh-born healthcare firm boss Stuart McKenzie, 51, is helping to organise a 300-strong expat flag march through Kiev on Saturday.
The dad of three said: “It’s frightening as we know there will be a bloodbath if the Russians invade as the Ukrainians are motivated to fight.”
Russia was last night blamed for a wave of bomb threats targeting schools and commuter hubs which further cranked up tension across Kiev.
