Longtime WNBA star Brittney Griner made another All-Star Game this season.

The Phoenix Mercury star was featured in the WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday night. Griner played in the game less than a year after being imprisoned in Russia.

Even Griner was surprised by her return to stardom on the court.

“I just wanted to get out there and try my best not to get hurt, give it the best I’ve got,” Griner said at the All-Star Game. “I was a little shocked, actually, how it was once I got on the court, so I’m happy with it.”

Griner put in a lot of hard work.

“It was definitely a tough road. A lot of long, hard hours in the gym and in the weight room to get back into it.”

Griner 19.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game.

“My stats definitely are going to be better this year than last year,” Griner said, joking. “You got to use humor in life.”

It’s fun to see Griner back on the court, that’s for sure.
