Wolves boss Bruno Lage joked that Adama Traore’s valuation had gone up after the Tottenham target scored late on in his side’s 3-1 win against Southampton.

The Spaniard scored in injury-time as Lage’s side earned a deserved win against the Saints to take the side into six points from fourth spot.

Traore has been identified as a target for Tottenham by Antonio Conte, who is unhappy with his options at right wing-back.

Conte tried to sign Traore during his time as Chelsea boss and he feels the powerful winger would provide more attacking thrust than both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty.

Wolves are understandably keen on keeping Traore but Lage took the opportunity to pointedly suggest the Spaniard’s price tag had just gone up following his goal against the Saints.

Lage was seen in conversation with Traore after the game and he told reporters that: ‘I went to say, ‘I’m happy with you, it’s an important moment for you.’

‘After I said something just for him, “Now if any team wants you, you’re more valuable because you scored one goal!’”

Traore has 18 months to run on his deal at Molineux and the Spaniard has intimated that he will not sign an extension.

That gives Wolves little option but to cash in on one of their prized assets and they’d obtain a larger fee by selling him this month, rather than in the summer.
