James Corden finally dropped the highly-anticipated video of the BTS members performing their recent hits – Butter, Permission to Dance, and Dynamite – on the crosswalk and it was as entertaining as it could get.
Last month, BTS members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook were spotted filming the special crosswalk performance outside the sets of The Late Late Night Show With James Corden. The video has now revealed that the members not only danced on the track but also participated in a skit with James.
The video started with their scripted act. “Today, you are going to play (at the) biggest venue of your life,” James informs the BTS members, pointing at the crosswalk. While the members faked their enthusiasm, they jokingly told each other in Korean, “This is the worst.” Jimin added with a smile on his face, “I’m scared, I don’t think this is safe,” leaving James to believe he loves it.
As James and BTS hyped each other up, Jimin revealed he upgraded James’ nickname from Papa Mochi to friend Mochi. Jungkook then asked him, “By the way, why do we call him Mochi?” Jimin replied, “Because he’s so sweet.” However, Jin said, “I thought it’s because he looks like a mochi.” The members agreed, “That makes sense, he does look like mochi, doesn’t he?”
James then offered to show them a choreography that they could copy on the crosswalk, however, J-Hope presented a counter choreography — from the song Butter — to leave everyone impressed. BTS members then head to the crosswalk and perform for the cars waiting for the signal to turn green. While some identified the group, others looked confused. As soon as the signal turned green, James asked the members to run to the sidewalks but Jimin seemed to lose balance when James piggybacked him to the sides.
The video then proceeded to show the members dressing up for Permission to Dance while James was busy selling merchandise. He walked from car to car, selling ‘BTS Butter’ for $100. He claimed, “J-Hope made this butter himself”. After a point, he was giving away the butter bars for free. He also got the members to sign ‘liability wavers’ and head-shots and handed them out to those driving past the studio.
The members then performed Permission To Dance, with more people in the cars not only identifying them but also dancing to the track with them.
James then announced that the group is going to perform Dynamite, and ‘blow this place up.’ However, James seemingly fell into a mess when a fireworker arrived at the spot – he had to clarify that Dynamite is the name of the BTS song and he would be more careful with his choice of words.
The members then suited up to perform Dynamite with not only the people in the traffic enjoying but also a group of fans gathered by the sidewalk trying to catch a glimpse of the performance. When the signal turned green and the members tried to clear the crosswalk for the cars to move, BTS member V slipped. However, he managed to jump up quickly and joined his fellow members.

BTS had recorded the episode last month. Besides the crosswalk performance, BTS also performed to Butter at the studio and sat down for an interview with James. The members had learned about their Grammy nomination when they were on the sets of the show.
