Edinburgh Airport describes Rhodes on its website as “a Grecian paradise” with “phenomenal beaches, ancient architecture, and incredible restaurants and nightlife.”

The website read: “Floating amid the crystal blues of the Aegean Sea, Rhodes boasts phenomenal beaches, ancient architecture and incredible restaurants and nightlife.

“White-washed houses litter the island’s hillside, while cobbled streets lead to medieval castles and golden sands. Transport yourself to this Grecian paradise.

The Herald reports the increase in passenger numbers for the budget airline is a sign of a growing demand for travel after the pandemic disruptions.

Airline announces exciting shake-up to flights from Scotland

Ryanair reported impressive passenger numbers last month.

The airline carried 11.8 million passengers in January, a 69 per cent increase compared to the previous year.

It comes as another major budget airline has announced its exciting new flight routes from Scotland this summer – and they’re cheaper than you might expect.

EasyJet has launched three new direct routes flying out of Glasgow and Edinburgh starting in June.

Flights to popular beach and city break destinations Santorini, Antalya and Lisbon begin from June 2 with prices starting from just under £40.

The new flights are among 11 new routes that easyJet has added to its UK network for summer 2023 today, to some of Europe’s best beach and city destinations in Italy, France, The Netherlands, and the Greek Islands as well as Turkey.

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager, said: “We are delighted to be launching even more new routes from Scotland so that we can provide our customers with an even wider range of fantastic beach and city routes across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East to explore and enjoy.

“We remain committed to strengthening our unrivalled short-haul network and providing affordable and convenient connections for our customers across Scotland, all with great value fares and the warm welcome that our crew are famous for.”

Flights to Lisbon are scheduled to launch from June 2 with twice weekly departures on Tuesdays and Saturdays from Glasgow.

Flights to Antalya from Edinburgh are scheduled to launch from June 3, with departures on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and to Santorini from June 6 with a weekly departure on Tuesdays, all throughout the summer season.

Commenting on the news, Kate Sherry, aviation director at Edinburgh Airport, said: “It’s great to see easyJet adding Antalya and Santorini to its already extensive selection at Edinburgh, and we hope the thought of a summer getaway to these fantastic destinations will provide some excitement to our passengers.”
