KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: In the round of 16 matches in the His Highness the Crown Prince Football Cup, both the Burgan and Al-Tadamon teams secured their spots in the quarter-finals on Saturday. Burgan claimed a notable victory over Al-Salmiya with a 2-0 scoreline, surprising many due to the perceived difference in capabilities between the teams.
Abdul Hadi Khamis was the star for Burgan, netting the first goal in the 11th minute as he skillfully penetrated the Salmiya penalty area. The second goal came in the 62nd minute through a well-executed counterattack, securing Burgan’s qualification for the quarter-finals.
In the upcoming quarter-finals, Burgan is set to face off against Al-Tadamon, the latter having secured their spot by defeating Al-Sulaibikhat with a clean 1-0 victory. Giovan Gomez sealed Al-Tadamon’s win in the 37th minute via a penalty kick.
Looking ahead, the tournament’s 16th round will conclude on December 19 with a match between Kuwait and Al-Nasr. The quarter-final matchups include Al-Arabi vs. Al-Shabab, Khaitan vs. Al-Qadisiyah, Kazma vs. the winner between Kuwait and Al-Nasr, and Burgan against Al-Tadamon.
