Burnley make hilarious Shrek announcement video featuring Ronaldo and Messi

Burnley may be in the Championship, but their new signing announcement videos are definitely Premier League.

Just when you thought the Clarets social media team couldn’t produce a better video to introduce their latest recruits, they’ve now released a Shrek-themed one for January signing Lyle Foster – and it even includes Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Well, Ronaldo and Messi don’t actually appear in it themselves of course, only their pictures do.

But we’ll let Burnley off on that one for budget purposes, because this announcement video is the best yet.

The minute and a half long clip – which has 50.4k retweets and 215.7k likes on Twitter and counting – begins with Shrek’s foe Lord Farquaad looking into the film’s Magic Mirror from Snow White.

Dubbing over the actual scene from the film, Lord Farquuad says: “Mirror, mirror on the wall, don’t Burnley have the most perfect team of them all?”

The Magic Mirror then responds, saying: “Well you haven’t scored 100 goals so far this season.”

He then gives Farquaad three options, one of which he could sign.

With footballing icons Messi and Ronaldo up for selection, the mirror then shows Foster, a 22-year-old striker playing for Belgian outfit Westerlo.

After much deliberation, Farquaad finally picks option number three, Foster.

“Foster,” he says, “He’s perfect.”

This transfer window has already seen the Lancashire outfit post a Toy Story themed video for the signing of Ameen Al-Dakhil, which got a great reaction on social media too.

Following their relegation from the Premier League last season, the Clarets have had an impressive first season back in the Championship since 2016.

And with Farquaad’s seal of approval, they’ll be hoping Foster can help them regain their top flight status.
