Busquets Receives Huge Offer From Saudi Arabia

FC Barcelona star Sergio Busquets has received a huge offer to continue his football career in Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr.

As Mundo Deportivo explains, the Saudis are “betting very heavily on soccer” as they have done with boxing in recent years.

After having made World Cup winner Lionel Messi an ambassador, the Saudis have expressed a desire to host FIFA’s showpiece international tournament in 2030.

At club level, Al-Nassr have gone after Cristiano Ronaldo and appear close to landing Messi’s generational rival who they will reportedly pay $213mn per season.

In past days, some outlets have claimed that Al-Nassr, who are owned by prince Faisal Bin Turki, have attempted to facilitate Ronaldo’s adaptation to Saudi Arabia through also trying to sign his ex-Madrid teammate Sergio Ramos.

On Friday, MD alleges that Al-Nassr have made a “dizzying offer” to Spain and FC Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets, who is a free agent come June next year.

It has been claimed that Barca first team coach Xavi Hernandez wants his skipper to extend terms for another year.

Meanwhile, however, 34-year-old defensive midfielder Busquets is said to have been approached by Inter Miami in the MLS who have been linked to his former teammates Messi and Luis Suarez too.

Al-Nassr boast a distant connection to Barca through their sporting director Goran Vucevic, a former ‘B’ team member who debuted for the first team under Johan Cruyff and went on to be a part of the scouting department.

In October last year, though, Vucevic left the Catalans to take up his role with Al Nassr who are now coached by ex-Lyon manager Rudi Garcia.

MD additionally say that Busquets is in “no rush to decide his future” and is focused on the derby with Espanyol on New Year’s Eve.

Should they win it, Barca could retake a two-point lead at the La Liga summit or extend it further if Real Madrid slip up against Valladolid this evening.
