Cain Velasquez issued his first statement since attempted murder arrest.
In February, former UFC/WWE star Cain Velasquez was involved in a shooting, which resulted in Velasquez being formally charged with attempted premeditated murder and multiple gun assault charges.
Now facing 10 charges, Velasquez released his first statement on the incident that occurred in San Jose, California.
Velasquez was accused of chasing down Harry Goularte in a high-speed car chase. Goularte, who was recently charged with one felony of lewd and lascivious act for molesting Valesquez’s young relative, had been released from jail, pending trial.
The two-time UFC champion currently faces 10charges that could be punished with 20 years of imprisonment if found guilty.
Per the Santa Clara Country district attorney, Velasquez found himself chasing Goularte and his stepfather in a high-speed car chase. Velasquez allegedly fired a 40-calibre semi-automatic handgun several times into the vehicle, hitting Goulrarte’s stepfather.
Ahead of his court hearing today, Velasquez issued a statement on the ongoing court battle.

“To everyone who has expressed their support for us, my family and I can never thank you enough. From the depths of our hearts and souls, we are eternally grateful for your love. Your selfless acts and encouraging words have given me strength in my darkest moments. This story is complex and is slowly unfolding right now. To all the true victims of this case, may God grant you the strength to speak publicly. Although the hardest part is reliving the pain you have suffered, by speaking honestly, justice will be done and your true recovery will begin. I will never stop helping and loving my community and all of you. Thank you for loving me. — Cain Velasquez”
