With the resurgence of COVID-19 in the region, Cal State San Bernardino will return to remote instruction when the spring semester begins Jan. 22.
The university, with a student body of approximately 20,000, joins 13 other California State University campuses in beginning the second half of the 2021-22 academic year virtually.
Students will remain in online courses until Feb. 18, President Tomás D. Morales wrote in a Tuesday, Jan. 11, letter.
“Virtual instruction allows us to further slow the spread of COVID-19 by limiting the number of additional individuals on campus on a daily basis,” he wrote.
Students taking courses that require in-person instruction will receive information on how to proceed.
University operations will remain open for in-person and remote services.
“Rest assured that CSUSB will still provide access to a quality higher education to advance the academic goals of all who attend,” Morales wrote. “I know that many of you are anxious as we navigate yet another wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and Omicron variant. I take all of your concerns seriously. I personally share them myself.”
Students and non-represented employees must have booster shots against COVID-19 by Feb. 28, Morales added. Represented employees are not currently subject to the booster requirement.
Cal State San Bernardino has limited booster shot appointments available.
