California theme park bans bans unaccompanied minors from Halloween event in wake of teen fights

The consequences of a series of fights involving teenagers at Knott’s Berry Farm continue to reverberate as the Buena Park theme park has banned unaccompanied minors from Knott’s Scary Farm during the annual Halloween after-hours event.

Knott’s has extended a new chaperone policy to all nights of Knott’s Scary Farm, according to the theme park’s website.

Knott’s Scary Farm will also implement a bag policy that will prohibit any bags, purses, backpack or diaper bags in the park larger than 6.5 inches by 4.5 inches by 2 inches. All bags will be searched upon entry to Knott’s Scary Farm.

Knott’s instituted the new weekend chaperone policy to help restore order and confidence after multiple fights involving teenagers in July caused panic and chaos that forced the early closure of the park.

Under the policy, all visitors 17 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone at least 21 years old on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to enter the Knott’s Berry Farm theme park or Knott’s Soak City water park. A single chaperone can accompany up to four underage visitors per day.

Knott’s introduced the chaperone policy for visitors under 18 years old after numerous fights involving rowdy teens caused panic and chaos that forced the early closure of the park to ensure guest safety.

The chaperone must have a valid ID with date of birth, provide a phone number and remain with the minors throughout the entire visit. Visitors under 18 found in the park without a chaperone could face ejection.
