The first seasonal update of 2023 has been revealed for Call of Duty Mobile, and the big update will celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with a Lunar New Year-themed variant of the Nuketown multiplayer map.
Call of Duty Mobile will introduce Season 1: Reawakening on January 18 at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET. The season includes a brand-new battle pass with 50 tiers of free and premium items, including new operator skins, weapon blueprints, calling cards, and more. One highlight of the battle pass is the Dingo light machine gun from Black Ops 3, which is unlocked at tier 21 of the free pass.
For multiplayer, Call of Duty bobbleheads will become a thing, as Season 1: Reawakening will introduce the new Big Head Blizzard party mode. Activision describes this as a mode where players acquire energy as they deal damage to enemies. The more energy acquired, the bigger their operator’s head becomes until they transform into a bobblehead-like character equipped with just a melee weapon and increased health points.
The Nuketown multiplayer map is getting a seasonal reskin with a Lunar New Year-themed variant. Nuketown’s new look will be styled as a metropolitan city and feature aesthetics representing the Year of the Rabbit.
Zombies mode will also get a Lunar New Year-themed update to the Super Attack of the Undead mode. Additionally, Season 1 for Zombies will include updated character models, new abilities for the infected and survivors, and support for additional maps.
For battle royale, two new points of interest were announced for the Isolated map. Players can visit the Ecology Lab location and interact with computers in the greenhouses to acquire in-game consumables. The new T-3 Refinery will feature a cylinder that creates an updraft to lift players up and out of the building, allowing the opportunity to quickly reposition on the map.
The seasonal update to the Isolated map will also feature two new ways to gain loot. The R.A.B.T. Robot is a small rabbit-like robot found randomly on the map, and attacking it will reward players with loot. Loot Balloons will be Lunar New Year-themed balloons positioned across various points of interest, and shooting them down will provide rewards.
A new in-game currency was also announced for Season 1: Reawakening. Activision says the season’s Limited Time Tickets currency will be supported “through Season 1 and into part of Season 2,” serving as a temporary seasonal currency that can be earned in-game and can then be spent in a new marketplace.
Players can also expect many additional updates and improvements to Call of Duty Mobile with Season 1: Reawakening, including new seasonal challenges, featured events, store bundles, and more.
Seasonal updates are expected to arrive to console versions of Call of Duty in February. Here are all the rumors and details surrounding Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
