Call of Duty Modern Warfare III Drops 10 November

Activision has dropped the launch date for its next installment of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Series. The next game will be titled Modern Warfare III and will be a direct sequel to last year’s game, and it will be landing on all platforms on 10 November.

The teaser trailer is only 41 seconds long but contains a message from the game’s protagonist, Captain Price: Never bury your enemies alive. Many online have speculated that Price’s statement is in reference to whom is expected to be the primary antagonist of Modern Warfare III, Russian ultranationalist leader Vladimir Makarov.

There isn’t much else that can be wrung out from the Modern Warfare III teaser video but to be fair, Activision has been dropping numerous hints and other teaser videos of the arrival of Makarov. Just weeks ago, a video of three alleged Russians tied to a group known as Konni, are shown getting ready to conduct an attack inside a civilian aircraft. A potential giveaway that Makarov is giving orders was when the words “No Russian” was sent as a confirmation to execute their plans.

Another major revelation in the Call of Duty reboot is that Phillip Graves, the tertiary antagonists in Modern Warfare II, is shown to be alive and well in the video clip from Season Five of Modern Warfare II, meeting up with Kareem and Graves. Chances are, he’ll be showing up in Modern Warfare III, although in what capacity, we cannot say.

Activision has also previously teased that all existing operators, weapons, and cosmetic bundles from Modern Warfare II will be carried over to Modern Warfare III. Further, it’s been sort of hinted that the ability to slide cancel will be making its way back into the game as well. How, you ask? Apparently, a Call of Duty content creator FaZe Swagg received a package from Activision containing a “slide” sandal, a random can of food, and a mobile phone or cellphone, if you’re from the US. Swagg surmised that the three items were code for the in-game feature: Slide+Can+Cell.

For us, it’s more of a surprise that Activision is actually releasing Modern Warfare III this soon, given that it usually skips a year in between the different Call of Duty titles. To that end, there is a feeling that the sequel’s main campaign may be shorter. Guess we’ll have to wait till 10 November to find out.
