The Call of Duty series will continue to release on PlayStation console after Microsoft completes the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Xbox’s head Phil Spencer confirmed today.
With a new tweet, Phil Spencer confirmed today that Microsoft and Sony have signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation following the acquisition. It’s not specified how long this agreement will last, but for the foreseeable future, fans of the series will be able to continue enjoying its latest entries on PlayStation consoles as well as on Xbox systems and PC.

The announcement of today’s agreement regarding Call of Duty seems to be one of the final chapters of this long story that is now reaching its conclusion. Earlier this weak, it was confirmed that Microsoft had beaten the FTC’s request for preliminary injunction to block the Activision Blizzard acquisition, leaving the UK’s CMA as the only obstacle left for the acquisition to go through. As Microsoft and Activision Blizzard seem willing to sell cloud gaming right in the UK to appease the local market regulator, it won’t take long for the acquisition to finally go through and bring an end to a story that has gone on for far too long.
