Calvin Kattar says he doesn’t think about blow-out loss to Max Holloway, looks to bounce back Saturday.

UFC featherweight Calvin Kattar will make his return to the cage on Jan. 15, 2022, as he faces Giga Chikadze in the main event of UFC Vegas 46.

Kattar has not fought since taking a blow-out unanimous decision loss to Max Holloway on Fight Island last year at UFC Fight Island 7. When asked if he is hung up on the loss to Holloway, Kattar says he only thinks about it when he wants to.

“I look it as much as I want to,” Kattar said at media day. “I finished that fight the way I started it, on the feet. Props to Max, he fought a hell of a fight. I definitely walked away from that fight with an understanding of, kind of, what he was doing. Things I will take on with me, not only for this next fight, but future fights.”

Kattar was asked if he took exception to the now infamous antics of Holloway. Kattar told MMA media that he had nothing but respect for the former featherweight champion after his loss.

Calvin Kattar has ‘nothing but respect’ for Max Holloway

“Nothing but respect for Max.” Kattar said. “I’ve seen the guy, post-loss with Dustin Poirier, going over and shaking the opposing family’s hand. He’s a class act, I get where he was going with it. It is what it is, as he would say.”

Since taking the historically bad loss on Fight Island last year, Kattar will have been out of action for almost 12 months to the day, before stepping back into the cage on Saturday. The Boston-native will look to bounce back and avoid taking back-to-back losses for the first time in his UFC career.

Kattar is 6-3 since making his UFC debut in 2017, with four of his six wins coming by way of stoppage.
