The pop stars announced their break-up on Wednesday evening via Instagram, releasing a joint statement.

It read: “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever.

“We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”

The split will come as a shock to many as just three months ago, the Havana hitmaker was shooting down engagement news after she was spotted wearing a new gem on the ring finger of her left hand.

She told U.S. late night chat show host Jimmy Fallon, “I don’t know what hand the engagement ring goes on, so sometimes I’ll just, like, put it on my ring finger.”

The stars fell in love while recording hit song Senorita in 2019, and they became a solid item throughout the pandemic, often photographed out and about kissing and cuddling.

Meanwhile, both gushed about each other in interviews, insisting the relationship had made them better people.

Camila recently credited her boyfriend for helping her manage her stress eating problem, after admitting she often falls into a “pattern of eating a lot” whenever she’s feeling “anxious or uncomfortable”, telling Glamour magazine, “It’s a comfort thing for me. I’ll just kind of become unconscious and zombie-eat a lot, and then I’ll feel sick.”

And she admitted Shawn had been helpful on multiple occasions.

“I’ve told Shawn about (my relationship with food),” she added. “So at the VMAs party, I was like, ‘I’m doing it.’ And he was like, ‘It’s OK. You’re doing it. That’s OK. Let’s just take a breath and not do that.’ It’s really good for me to be able to talk about my patterns with someone.”
