In a surprise to royal fans, King Charles and Queen Camilla paid an unscheduled visit to Belfast on Wednesday. This was their first trip to Northern Ireland since their Coronation earlier this month.

The couple’s trip began with a visit to the new Coronation Garden at Hazelbank Park in Newtownabbey.

Queen Camilla looked stunning with a mint green dress and scarf, and she added a unique brooch to complete her look.

Jewellery experts at UK brand Steven Stone have provided all the information fans need to know about the brilliant brooch, including its hidden message as a symbol of “strength, balance and harmony”.

Zack Stone commented: “It’s heartwarming to see Queen Camilla wearing Queen Elizabeth II’s emerald and diamond Celtic knot brooch during her visit to Belfast.

“Dating back to 1893, it’s a historic piece that was previously worn by Queen Mary.”

The jewellery expert explained why there is a link to the late Queen Elizabeth II with Camilla’s brooch.

Zack explained: “Though there aren’t many documented appearances of the brooch, Queen Elizabeth II notably wore it at a State Banquet for the President of Ireland in 2014.”

According to the expert, the gemstone in the brooch is “ancient”, which helps create a “traditional” design.

Zack opined: “The design of a traditional Celtic knot is echoed in the brooch by lines of diamonds intertwining around a central emerald that appears to be a cabochon stone.

“This is one of the oldest and most coveted gemstones, used since ancient times.”

According to the expert, there is a hidden message behind Celtic knots, which could have been why Queen Camilla chose it for her first day in Northern Ireland.

Zack suggested: “Celtic knots are known to symbolise strength, balance and harmony.”

The value of this brooch certainly increases its appeal, as it’s definitely on the higher end of price tags for royal jewellery.

The expert continued: “I’d estimate a piece like this to retail at approximately £100,000.”

In addition to the brooch and the Anna Valentine dress, Queen Camilla carried her Bottega Veneta Intrecciato small leather shoulder bag for the occasion.

She also accessorised with her Kiki McDonough pendant necklace and her Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet.
