The family’s takeout dinner debate is raging. One wants Thai. Another is thinking sushi. Mediterranean is always appealing. So is Filipino food. And how about spicy fried chicken?
Local Kitchens was created to solve that dilemma. This “micro food hall” offers several restaurant concepts in one location but differs from the “ghost kitchen” format in a few key ways. First, customers may order takeout or delivery from all the concepts at one time. Second, many Local Kitchens are situated in retail areas and not industrial districts. And, unlike most ghost kitchens, they typically offer a small amount of seating for customers.
The newest in this “mix and match” dining concept has just opened in Campbell’s Hamilton Plaza shopping center, two months after the company branched out to Los Gatos.
On the menu in both Campbell and Los Gatos are offerings from eight restaurants: Senor Sisig, The Melt, SAJJ Mediterranean, Sushiritto, Proposition Chicken, Rooster and Rice, The Plant and Humphry Slocombe ice cream.
Other Bay Area locations can be found in Cupertino, Lafayette, Mountain View, Palo Alto and San Jose. Restaurant selections vary; for example, Tacolicious, Wise Sons and Curry Up Now can be found in Mountain View, and Cupertino offers Asian Box and Dumpling Time. The Chairman’s bao are at Palo Alto.
Details: The Campbell location is open from 11 a.m. to midnight daily at 1640 S. Bascom Ave. In Los Gatos, the hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at 681 Blossom Hill Road. www.localkitchens.com
