The Campbell Fighting Camels rolled past the No. 2 seed Longwood 81-68 yesterday to advance to the Big South semifinals. The No. 7 seed, Camels pulled off that upset and now are one game away from having a chance to punch a ticket to the big dance. The Radford Highlanders are standing in their way. The Highlanders are the No. 3 seed in the Big South and they took down Winthrop yesterday, 78-69.
Let’s check out the odds for the Fighting Camels and the Highlanders in the Big South semifinals.
Campbell vs. Radford odds, spread and total
Campbell vs. Radford prediction and pick
Campbell shot the ball really well from inside the arc against Longwood. They made 24-of-39 shots from two-point range and also went 24/28 from the free-throw line. That allowed them to score 81 points while only hitting three three-pointers. For the season, they’re hitting 46.3% from the field, but only score 69.3 points a game because of their slow pace.
Despite playing at such a slow pace, the over has hit in the Camels last four games. I wouldn’t expect that to continue, because Radford is 40th in opponents points per game. Most modern basketball games are decided by the three-point line, but that won’t be the story in this one. Campbell is 29th in the country in two-point field goal percentage and Radford is 315th in opponent two-point percentage. They are vulnerable inside and the Camels are going to take advantage with Ricky Clemons and Anthony Dell’Orso attacking the rim and Jay Pal inside. Pal averages 11.9 a game, but had 23 points and 11 rebounds last round.
