Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker has paid tribute to his favourite footy club in the most Aussie way possible.
While playing in front of 75,000 fans at Forecast Festival in Louisville, Kentucky in the US, Parker was rocking a Fremantle Dockers’ jumper.
Parker, who calls South Freo home, and who was named the club’s number one ticket holder in 2021, wasn’t just sporting an ordinary jumper.
He was wearing the club’s $80 ‘Camo’ Hi-Vis Work Shirt, designed for tradies and FIFO workers.
Tame Impala’s gig was on Saturday night, not long after Fremantle’s epic win over the then-undefeated Demons at the MCG.
Freo fans certainly appreciated the support.
“Freo, way to go,” one punter commented.
The official Fremantle Dockers’ account replied to the picture with a handshake and anchor emoji.
In a 2021 interview for the Dockers Parker said: “As long as I remember I’ve been a Dockers supporter.”
“More and more I’ve felt a bond with Fremantle and the Fremantle club.”
The Dockers and Parker released a track to coincide with last year’s announcement, with the strain of ‘Fre-o’ prominent in the song.
“Music is something that I feel like I can offer. When the players are running out, that is one of the parts of the game where music plays a part,” Parker said at the time.
“I wanted it to be something uplifting, energising and unique. Something that only the Dockers can use.”
