A serial killer who allegedly feasted on his victims’ dead bodies has been arrested following a four-month manhunt.

Cannibal Djalma Campos Figueiredo was said to drink his victims’ blood and eat their eyes and ears after killing them in Brazil.

Military police captured the 46-year-old in the city of Cuiaba in Mato Grosso on Wednesday.

He had already been sentenced to 42 years in prison for several counts of aggravated murder by the Court of Justice of Rondonia in Porto Velho before his arrest.

In September, an arrest warrant was issued against him for a pending prison sentence of 26 years and four months.

Brazil’s investigative police force, known as the Civil Police, said the man would kill his victims, then eat their eyes and ears, and drink their blood.

His crimes took place in and around the city of Ji-Parana, also in the state of Rondonia.

It is not clear how many victims the man had.

Military Police officers arrested Campos Figueiredo thanks to an anonymous tip-off that a fugitive was living in the Tijucal neighbourhood of Cuiaba.

They did not realise who the fugitive was until they arrived at the scene and discovered it was Campos Figueiredo.

The wanted cannibal had managed to travel and avoid capture until then by using fake documents.

Officers then took him to the police station in handcuffs.

The serial killer previously went on the run after damaging his ankle tag.

He was captured in the city of Ji-Parana and later sent to prison in 2018.

It is not known how the prisoner managed to escape from behind bars.
