Also, Resident Evil Village hit a new milestone
Today, Capcom dumped their financial earnings report on us for the fiscal year ending in March 31, 2022. It wasn’t as much of a deep dive as Nintendo’s recent report, but there’s a few interesting software tidbits to glean.
Here are the takeaways from the 2022 Capcom financial report:
- Resident Evil Village hits 6.1 million units in sales, which is beyond the roughly five million mark six months ago
- Monster Hunter 2 Stories: Wings of Ruin achieved 1.5 million in sales, a number Capcom seems happy with
- Capcom says that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Resident Evil 7 helped bolster their financial state because they are “consistently popular”
- The publisher didn’t report much in the mobile space, but did boast about Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat launching in China
Using this new data, Resident Evil Village is tied with Street Fighter V for the 9th spot overall in Capcom’s all-time seller list. At this point it just needs to push a little further to surpass Street Fighter II at 6.3 million units. Monster Hunter is also still very much secure as a staple IP for Capcom, and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. And of course, the same goes for Resident Evil, which holds a staggering five spots in the overall top 10 now.
This report shows us a decent runway of what we can expect of Capcom in the next five years or so. And why Resident Evil Village DLC (we’re waaaaaiting!) is a no-brainer.
