Captain Minnie Is The Centerpiece Of Disney Cruise Line’s Newest Ship

0

With Minnie at the helm, you can expect smooth sailing on the Disney Wish, the fifth cruise ship owned and operated by Disney Cruise Line, a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. Joining four other ships in the fleet—Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream, and Disney Fantasy—the Disney Wish is the largest and the first of the Triton-class.

From character sightings to entertaining dining experiences to a visit to Disney’s own private island, enchanted worlds from Disney are brought to life. And don’t worry, adults will have plenty of kid-free spaces and lounges to enjoy as well. The ship has successfully concluded its christening sail and will begin its passenger sailings on July 14. Keep reading to learn about everything you can experience once onboard, where magic meets the sea.

It’s All in the Details: Dining

The dining experiences are just that: experiences. Rather than meeting new servers for each restaurant, you’ll have the same team, which means they’ll not only know your names, but also, they’ll understand what allergies you have, what you like to do for fun, and if you’re a kid who only likes noodles and butter.

At Arendelle, a Frozen-themed restaurant, you’ll be a part of an elaborate engagement dinner for Queen Anna and Kristoff. While you make your way through each Norwegian-inspired course, you’ll be entertained by top-notch musical performances from Elsa, Olaf, and other villagers.

1923, named after the celebratory year that The Wald Disney Studios was founded, has sophisticated old Hollywood décor, with sketches, drawings, props, and storyboards decorating the walls.

At Worlds of Marvel, featuring a global menu, your kids will be fully engaged as Ant-Man and the Wasp utilize the interactive Quantum Core right at your table. Light hearted and fun, this is an experience like no other.

Beyond the three restaurants above, you’ll of course have access to round-the-clock noshes at Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods, located on the upper decks. From Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue to Donald’s Cantina to Daisy’s Pizza Pies to Goofy’s Grill, there’s something for everyone. And, of course, everyone loves Sweet Minnie’s Ice Cream.

Fun for Everyone: Entertainment

At the Walt Disney Theatre, see Broadway-style shows that are as dreamlike as you’d hope. From imaginative sets to eye-catching special effects to spot-on choreography to top-tier singing and dancing, Disney Wish knows how to entertain families and couples.

Of course, swimming will be a part of your daily itinerary. On the upper decks of the ship, you’ll have access to 10 Mickey and pal-themed pools and play areas, ideal for every age. Aqua Mouse, inspired by Mickey Mouse animated shorts, is an attraction at sea that you have to see to believe. You’ll fly through 760-feet of twisting tubes that round the deck, with see-through parts that enable you to marvel at the ocean, before coasting into a lazy river.

The Hero Zone is where to go for game-show-style fun and laughter. Compete with new friends and play together on the sports court, game floor, or playground. First-run movies, with popcorn in hand, make for a fun evening inside the Wonderland Cinema and Never Land Cinema. Kids clubs, for various age groups, are also a great way for littles to spend a few hours of time, safe without their parents and guardians. Disney added a slide that travels from the Grand Hall to the Oceaneer Club, perfect for kids ages 3—12. For kids 11—14, there’s Edge and for teenagers 14—17, there’s Vibe. From Star Wars Cargo Bay to the Walt Disney Imagineering Lab to Fairytale Hall, your brood will have plenty to do.

While young ones are playing in one of the kid-friendly areas, adults can experience Star Wars Hyperspace Lounge, Keg & Compass pub, The Rose, Senses Spa, Quiet Cove swimming area, Enchanté, and Palo Steakhouse, among other carved out places.

Finally, don’t miss the special nighttime Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party where you can see fireworks out on the deck. Many families take the opportunity to don eye patches and red and white stripped costumes.

Fit for a Queen: Accommodations

The Disney Wish’s 1,254 staterooms, most of which are fashioned with verandahs, come in a variety of configurations, accommodating a diversity of sizes for families and couples. In fact, 451 rooms have adjoining doors, making it easy for larger families to stay connected. The popular Verandah category offers ocean views from a private verandah, a queen-sized bed, a pull-down bed, and a sitting area with a convertible couch. The Concierge level features a premium level of service.

The Royal Suites with Private Verandah include four sizeable extravagant Royal Suites, two of which incorporate a spiral staircase leading to an additional level. All suites enjoy access to exclusive areas and amenities like the Concierge Lounge, an outdoor terrace, and a private sundeck with two whirlpools and unobstructed sea views. The most elaborate is the Wish Tower Suite, housed in the forward funnel above the upper decks, complete with two-story accommodations, high-end furnishings, two master bedrooms, a children’s room with bunk beds, a library, floor-to-ceiling glass windows with a view of the sea, and a private elevator.

Magic for All

When you first spot Rapunzel and her hair—59 feet in length, gracing the stern of the Dish Wish, you’ll know you’re in for something truly special. And, after wandering through the Grand Hall, with its massive chandelier and life-sized Cinderella sculpture, you’ll feel it. Telling stories is what Disney does best and you’ll certainly be enchanted with the thoughtful tales weaved throughout your experience.

Walt Disney famously said, “I only hope that we never lose sight of one thing—that it was all started by a mouse.” And, while he certainly meant Mickey Mouse, on the Disney Wish, Minnie Mouse gets the spotlight. Her face is on the bow, she’s present in the Oceaneer Club, and when guests experience the Disney Uncharted Adventure, they’ll see that its Captain Minnie running the show.
